Yesterday, my friend Perry and I randomly bought a painting at Billy's Antiques on Houston Street for our film shoot next weekend. We weren't planning on shopping, but sometimes when you see something so spectacular (in our case, an an abstract portrait of a woman that stands literally as tall as me!), you just have to have it! That rush we felt in finding the painting reminded me again of how much I love scouting for treasures in New York City. I guess my heart really does belong to flea markets and thrift stores! So it's only appropriate to share with you some of my favorite places, right? Check out:

Hey Helen :)
ReplyDeleteAnd indeed @ having to have it...most times I'm just going to be going, and I know I'm going to get "something". I haven't been thrifting in a good while, I'm tryng to narrow down on some fashions I already have. Usually, I go thrifting for jeans, jackets and custom jewerly.
Have a fab day :)
i am JEALOUS!! :)

ReplyDeletefun! i looooove thrifting. i wish there were more places to go where i live! we just have a few small second-hand shops and that's about it :(
ReplyDeleteI love scouring the markets! I didn't get round to going to the ones in NY when I was there last - have to do that at some point! The best market I've been to was in Paris - gorgeous boots for £4 and a beaded clutch for £3, such bargains!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing what other people pick up when thrifting,. I feel like I have lost the thrill of the hunt in my own local thrift store. I think it's time for a shopping road trip.
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I've never been much of a flea market girl but I've seen some marvelous treasures!
