Sunbathing in Washington Square Park

A slap of sun on coral tongue
and my complaints are swallowed

I will not cry anymore in cold
but swish my skirt and lose the shoes

Trees and buildings blush
at my brazen unbuttoning

People of the park, beware:
I’ll melt like a football to the face.
