move me, manhattan

... and how it would look

... and taste

... and feel

I never imagined how much

I'd be moved.

Dear City, you sway me every day,
in the littlest of ways.
And I can only begin to capture
them all.

book haven
Sometimes, a girl just needs to curl up in a nice comfy couch and indulge in a good book. Call me a nerd, but I am in dire need of escaping into literary paradise, stat! I've been feeling a little overwhelmed by myself lately, have you ever felt that way? All of my thoughts on my life (be it business, school, love, friends) have been getting on my nerves -- I think my brain needs a bit of perspective; a story to dwell on that is not my own.
Do you have any good books to share? I loved The Glass Castle. (Memoirs rock!)

wonderful women

I couldn't get them out of my mind all week. Actually, they've served as my daily reminders to take it easy and enjoy the life I have, since I've been feeling so stressed by the constant balancing act. So today, inspired by their serenity, I put down my blackberry and planner, grabbed a scrumptious-looking salad with lots of avocado, and thoroughly enjoyed a few moments of sunshine outside, just me and my thoughts. It was heavenly. Then, I called my mom for some TLC, because we all know that mothers -- awesome hairdo or not -- are always sweet and especially fabulous.

passion projects + summer plans
My recent passion projects include volunteer-managing social media and marketing efforts for Bellaga, a really awesome website that serves as an online marketplace for independent fashion designers to sell their collections direct to consumers. Our small company just launched a few weeks ago, so it's been exciting and rewarding to take part in its development -- I feel like a proud momma! (Interested in learning more about how to sell on Bellaga? Click here and follow us on Twitter!)
Another project I'm working on is helping my friend Perry with his short film, The Thrill. Perry has been one of my closest friends since we met on the very first day of school more than three years ago, and he's also a genius director/screenwriter. I'm supporting him as line producer, and we'll be shooting in two weeks... so excited to finally help create a film! I'll keep you guys posted on photos + an upcoming trailer! (I can't share the script, but I assure you, it is good.)
And lastly... the big surprise/news! After weeks of struggling to keep mum, I can finally share with you my summer plans! (Drumroll pleaaaase!) This summer, I will be working in NYC for L'Oreal USA as a marketing/brand management intern for the Consumer Products Division. (So I'll be collaborating with the Maybelline, L'Oreal Paris, or Garnier Fructis brands, yippee!) I'm stoked to join the world's largest beauty company (which happens to own Kiehls, Lancome, and the other brands in the photo above), and can't wait to give you more updates. :)
Phew! I'm all out of big news for now. Life is so full of exciting twists and turns, but it's really up to us to twist and turn as well to make the most out of them, don't you agree? What are some of your "passion" projects? Fill me in, lovelies!

some poetry for the mad girls

Mad Girl’s Love Song
"I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead;
I lift my lids and all is born again.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)
The stars go waltzing out in blue and red,
And arbitrary blackness gallops in:
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.
I dreamed that you bewitched me into bed
And sung me moon-struck, kissed me quite insane.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)
God topples from the sky, hell's fires fade:
Exit seraphim and Satan's men:
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.
I fancied you'd return the way you said,
But I grow old and I forget your name.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)
I should have loved a thunderbird instead;
At least when spring comes they roar back again.
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)"
-- Sylvia Plath
Note: Lovelies, I'm sorry I've been so super busy lately. But I have a really huge post coming after this one with lots of exciting updates and news! Coming soon... in the meantime -- poetry!
