Watch me!

I feel like fate is telling me to get a watch, which is hilarious because I haven't owned one since my third grade pink felt Barbie watch (which looked more like a bracelet anyway).

This morning, after my friend Mark and I checked out the Kenneth Cole sample sale at 36th between 7th and 8th aves, we stopped by Tourneau - conveniently located next to the A,C,E, subway station on 34th - to admire some watches. Mark is obsessed with all Baume & Mercier executive's watches, but I think they look a little busy.

Later, for my work at the NYU Stern Undergraduate Dean's Office, I dropped by Tiffany's (on 57th and 5th) to pick up the Dean's gorgeous gold clock, which she had repaired. Of the four times I'd visited Tiffany's, I always checked out the rings - but this time (no pun intended) I admired the watches! They really are quite chic, as well as useful, of course. My favorite's this Atlas Quartz resonator:

Isn't it lovely and classic?

Boot love

After wearing my roommate Emily's frye engineer boots practically everyday for months, I finally decided to get my own pair and ordered via Piperlime. Lucky for me, today was also Piperlime's second birthday, and I received a $20 cash back for my next purchase! I already know what I want to buy next:

Nicole Be Bop Boots
- they're comfortably casual, but still edgy and sexy. But I can't make up mind on the color! Which would you pick?

laid to rest

If heaven were to have a home,
it would be in the crevice of
earth between my ears.

These are my most fertile grounds -
where graveyards of letters unwritten,
words unspoken,
and memories of us
intertwine in the soft,
dependable dirt.

two favorite looks

1. Cut-out blouse

I would wear this with a black or colored bra - not cool to show all of your goods!

2. Oversized vest and belt

painting = pleasure

My roommates and I love to add homey touches to our Gramercy apartment. One unconventional method is... painting our cabinets (in washable paint)! What do you think? These little details definitely brighten up my day whenever I come home from a long day of work and class.

Every week, we write inspirational quotes to each other in soap on the bathroom mirror.

Vote For...

I love this Gap Vote tee ($15), especially the fill in the blank. Gap doesn't necessarily care who you're voting for, it wants to know what you're voting for. For me, it would be for passion.

for the love of fringe

All year, I've been looking for something fringe - boots, a jacket, or maybe a bag. It's killing me not being able to find that bohemian but also high quality item, without breaking my wallet! Vintage has served me well for so long, but I really want to buy something that I can carry/wear for awhile... so for now, it's back to online window-shopping!

amazing invention

Featuring the BraBaby:

"a crafty new contraption - now you can throw padded and underwire bras in the washer without ruining them!"

Now, why didn't I come up with this? I would snap these up in a second if they weren't twenty dollars each.

My Vintage Closet, Part 1

I've accumulated a lot of vintage goodies in the past year and a half, so I've decided to share with you some things from my closet! (It's like a museum in there, it's so old!)

BCBG shimmery wrap-sweater

Black cowboy boots

Calypso hippie silk blouse

Calvin Klein men's shirt

Frye boots that aren't vintage, but pretty worn down...and I love them and wear them a lot

Moccasin slipper-booties (that curl up and down)

Floral blouse

More to come later...

UK Baggy

Alphabet Bags

I just bought this all the way from the UK for £11.95, or approx $20. Isn't it quirky and cute?
